Ghirardelli Ice Cream in Monterey

First of all, there was a long line out the door here for ice cream and chocolates. They were passing out caramel chocolates samples. It was a little sweet for me. We ordered ice cream at the register. The lady at the register said, pick up the ice cream at the corner station. That's where ice cream is made. Unfortunately she meant that's the corner to pick up ice cream. Ice cream is not made there.Seating : no seats indoor or outdoor was available. Water : they told us no water was available for guests. They ran out of water in the building. How are they operating? Employees are suppose to wash hands. 😳😳😳😳Ice cream was good but pricey for one scoop of ice cream.

Well me and my father visit for tasty shakes and smoothies. My father loves having the vanilla ice cream in the terrace facing the ocean.on our visit to Monterey we usually stop for a special treat as I mentioned, friendly servers and great location.

Came here while visiting Monterey, the guy working I think his name was Dan was a very helpful and welcoming guy. I ordered the salted Caramel quake it was delicious. The people here are fast with making orders. The seating area is fantastic. They have propane heating and plenty of seating both ocean front seating and cannery row seating. I definitely recommend this as a must stop in Monterey.

First review but not the first time here. This place will always be a great place for dessert. The time between ordering and getting the dessert was fairly quick. Pictures is the frozen hot cocoa and a custom milkshake where you choose 3 different chocolate squares in their store. Delicious!

The manager was great the staff was great. Great experience. Unlike the terrible experience we had at Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory across the street

Great ice cream and chocolate.

Delicious varieties of chocolate in almost any flavor you can imagine! They also have a coffee and dessert bar that serves decadent drinks using their chocolate. You can sit on the deck and watch the ocean, or next to the heaters and keep warm as you eat your treats!

I understand due to COVID lots of things have changed but do you see this? Prices are still the same, why isn’t the quality the same. What I got a couple months ago vs. today. This a joke. Do better.

Ghiradelli I’ve cream and candy spot never fails to deliver. They have a great selection of ice cream and their famous chocolate squares. The patio out back has limited seating but great views of the bay.

I love this place!! Today we went and the manager helped us out, he was very patient and very helpful! Besides the great chocolate, the drinks are so delicious as well!! I definitely recommend this place when you come visit Monterey, this place is a must!

They gave us free chocolate at the gate, the store is clean and well organized! Time to indulge into the sweetness!

Always a treat to stop by here when visiting Monterey! It's usually always busy but the staff is always friendly and courteous and wiling to hand out free samples with every new customer entering the building. Love sharing the sundaes with my husband but always refreshing to get scoops of ice cream with a warm drink.

The experience took advantage of the downtown location. Good dessert option in Monterey!

While San Francisco is the original Ghirardelli location you cannot beat sitting on the balcony overlooking Monterey Bay while eating your ice cream.

Limited COVID menu still had great options. We had a dipped waffle cone scoop and special sundae. Both delicious. Also some chocolates buy one get one. Sanitation and spacing of customers effective and efficient.

08/04/2020 to the super cute guy who brought out my friend and i's affogatos and seen us stretching and told us it's never a bad time for some yoga . I appreciate you you're super freaking cute and super sweet. great customer service.

You can't beat ice cream with melted Ghirardelli fudge and chopped almonds. Very fresh and delicious! Good coffee too. Nice patio views.

This is probably the smallest Ghirardellis I have been in. That said they maximize their allotted space. They have a large selection of candy. Plus cookies, brownies, and ice cream. To order an ice cream dish you grab a menu, figure out what you want, and place your order at the front counter. Pickup is in the back. They have a good selection of Sundays, milkshakes, etc that they make. The selection of ice cream is good but not great. If you have ever been to one of their large stores you will know what I am talking about. The people working here are super friendly, helpful, and have great attitudes.

Super touristy, but also very good. Expect OTT sundaes, high quality, and long lines. A treat for all.

Worst service and disrespectful staff over COVD-19 policies for the GHIRARDELLI NAME... will never buy the company products again. Its astounding how disgraceful people can become towards paying customers over an ice cream.

Fantastic place to sit and eat some chocolate and ice cream and watch the waves roll up on the sand. Great customer service and you get a free sample when you go in. It's a little pricey but the sweets are definitely worth it.

The shop smells wonderful, the ice cream worth the little side trip, employees were great.

Went in today with my wife. We were told that they were out of vanilla ice cream until Monday. How in the world does an ice cream shop run out of vanilla ice cream??? That is like KFC running out of chicken.... Very disappointed by this. I guess it goes to show management isn't staying ontop of their inventory.

A must stop for every Monterey trip!!! We always get our ice cream here. Never disappoints. Always the best. Great atmosphere. Great quality. Great location!

Great patio in back with view of Bay. Today we saw an otter and several seals. Our hot chocolate and strawberry banana float were excellent. Service is fine.

Fancy place to just get some ice cream. Staff is wearing retro classics outfit. Quality was excellent. We had to order from a menu without seeing or tasting opportunity.

Line was long but expected for a busy weekend however it moved quickly and the manager Don was extremely helpful at the counter. Great customer service and great ice cream!!

So yummy! We got the lands end salted caramel brownie sundae. Would highly recommend!

They ran out of real vanilla ice cream for their famous hot sundae! Are you serious??? Couldn’t even tell me what’s in the no-sugar added vanilla ice cream - some artificial sweetener??? No thanks. I don’t want to eat some artificial chemicals. Very disappointed.

Great sundaes!

The presentation of the dessert is very poor. It was well and truly leaking like this on the side. This is very unappealing to the eye. It does taste amazing but looks matter and would have appreciated it if someone wiped the sides and at least I won’t have a sticky messy hand eating it. There is no bathroom at this place so it was so annoying to have to wash hands. The hot chocolate did taste amazing. They were giving our samples for the chocolate which is a good idea too!

Their chocolate and ice cream is just so good. The staff is very friendly, and they do a good job with orders!

Had great views but the ice cream was just ok. But their hot chocolate was gross, came from a machine rather than real home made hot cocoa. They are also REALLY expensive so be ready for that. There wasn't anything memorable, the staff weren't even very friendly. Probably won't go back.

I love Ghirardelli ice cream but the location of this Ghirardelli ice cream shop can't be beat! The view is amazing and the service was fast. Of course, the Brownie sundae and raspberry smoothie were delicious. The only downfall was that this location was sold out of my favorite sundae, the Muir Woods.

Amazing, I've never seen my friend so in awe with how good ice cream tasted. Midnight Reverie (the awe-inducing one) and the World Famous Sundae is what we had. The location, also, is beautiful!

It is THE place to go on Cannery Row for a sweet treat. The cookie bit sundae and the Nob Hill chill milkshake are the best. Very happy and helpful staff. The back patio hangs over the bay and the view is spectacular.

Place is always busy but folks are always friendly. Desserts are super tasty. Worth the short wait.

This place is horribly inefficient, we order a ice cream on a cone to go and it takes 40 mins to get it. The ordering line is also so slow that we cannot cancel our order. This is no way out once you innocently enter this shop be aware!!!

The chocolate is the obvious reason to go here. But this location is special. You can eat one of several amazing sundaes while sitting on their back deck literally looking at the beach and ocean beneath you. Great place to take a break from sight seeing and recharge.

Great place to stop for ice cream on cannery row. Like most of its desserts, a bit on the expensive side, but totally worth it. Has the same menu as any other their other shops, but not usually too busy. Recommend the knob hill sundae or milkshake?

Is very sweet and special place for special treats. It smells wonderful here and the staff are very polite and friendly. The treats they serve are at a fair price with good quality ingredients. I love to visit from time to time for a little chocolate or maybe an ice cream sundae. Absolutely delicious.

The ice cream is sooo good. Their strawberry is one of the best I’ve tried!

Great little shop, the balcony had good views and all the outside tables have outside hearing which is very helpful at night.

Nice ice cream shop and beat view of Pacific from patio.. really love this place
